Ogun Govt, AOLG Boss Take Proactive Step to Fix Collapsed Odo Pako Bridge!|Omohglobalnews


The Odo Pako Bridge in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area has collapsed due to heavy rainfall, prompting immediate action from Ogun State Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Ola Oresanya, and Ado-Odo/Ota LG Executive Chairman, Alhaji Lawal Adewale Wasiu FCA. The two leaders jointly inspected the damage to determine the cause of the collapse.


The team Investigation revealed that dredging activities by the Lagos State government likely caused the collapse by exposing the bridge’s basement to water. The heavy flow of water from Anglican Road further exacerbated the damage.


To alleviate the impact, Commissioner Oresanya announced temporary measures allowing car and lighter vehicle movement until the bridge is reconstructed.


Alhaji Lawal Adewale Wasiu FCA assured the community that the local government would implement palliative measures promptly, emphasizing his role in facilitating the state government’s response to ensure the community remains connected to economic activities.


The incident highlights the importance of collaboration between state and local governments in addressing environmental issues. As the team lead of the Ogun State Ministry of Environment, Commissioner Oresanya plays a crucial role in enforcing environmental safety and regulations.


The Inspection team also visited Ijako, where Nehemiah Grace Developers Limited’s river sandfilling activities led to a partial collapse of the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway. The commissioner ordered the site sealed for further investigation, demonstrating a proactive approach to addressing environmental hazards and promoting development in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government .


Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area, where the incident occurred, is a significant economic hub in Ogun State, bordering metropolitan Lagos and boasting a well-developed infrastructure. The area is known for its industrial activities, including manufacturing, construction, and service sectors, making it a vital part of the state’s economy.
