A joint patrol operation was conducted by personnel from various security agencies in the Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Council Area today, April 19, 2025.

This initiative began late last year among the security agencies in Sango Ota, with the following Area Commanders: ACP Shola Oladele (Area Commander, Police); Lt. CDR O Olaiya (Commander, Navy); Mr. A Adeyemi (Unit Director, DSS); ACC Adesanya L O (Area Commander, NSCDC); Cdr. Ajibade A. A (Area Commander, TRACE); CDR Olaseinde A G (Amotekun); Cdr. Sowole O. Y (Area Commander, Fire); Cdr. Mathew E. (Immigration); CRC Ogunmefun Wasiu (Unit Commander, FRSC); Engr. Olugbenga O. (Zonal Commander, VIO); CSN Folorunso O. J. (Commander, NDLEA); and Cdr. Odunmbaku Tajudeen (Zonal Commander, So Safe).

The operation today was led by ACC Adesanya Lawrence (NSCDC). He stated that the initiative was designed by all Area Commanders in Ado-Odo Ota to prevent any harassment, threats, or intimidation of residents during the Easter holiday period. He warned that any attempt to disrupt the peace or engage in criminal activities during this time would be met with a decisive response from all security agencies in the Ado-Odo Ota area.

Moreover, he noted that the exercise aims to ensure the festival is a traffic-free period, allowing for smooth movement on the roads without any disruptions. He urged the officers to exercise caution in their approach and to maintain discipline and professionalism during the joint patrol operations.

Additionally, he emphasized that inter-agency collaboration is here to stay and will continue to be implemented during all festive periods to combat any potential criminal activities.

Participating in the joint operation were the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Nigerian Navy, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE), Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), So Safe, Amotekun, and Fire Services.

The joint operation commenced at 11 a.m. from the Sango Police Area Command and proceeded to Ijoko, Ijako, Sango Under Bridge, Tollgate, Ojuore, Ilogbo, and finally turned back at Honda, covering trouble spots to demonstrate the commitment of security agencies to a zero-tolerance policy on crime during this period.

During the operation, street hawkers were warned to remove their goods from the roads, while commuters were instructed to keep to one lane at each bus stop to ensure the free flow of vehicle movement. Patrol vans were deployed, sounding warnings about the risks of selling on the roads and obstructing traffic.

No arrests were made during the operation; however,  CSP Saleh Dahiru and CSP of both Sango and Onipanu division cautioned that it would not be business as usual next time this operation is conducted.

In conclusion, the inter-agency collaboration will be a continuous exercise during holidays and at other times deemed necessary by all Area Commanders within Ado-Odo/Ota.
