Allied Trucks Transporters Association of Nigeria (ATTAN) has paid a courtesy visit to Traffic Compliance and Enforcement (TRACE) office in Ota on Wednesday.
The Area Commander, Ogun West Command, Com. Adekunle Ariyo Ajibade in his remarks said the TRACE Commander / Chief Executive Officer, Commander 'Seni Ogunyemi affirmed that TRACE is committed to Intensive campaign to zero tolerance to crashes and implored ATTAN members to adhere to the same goal.
He further said, Truck drivers are major cause of road accidents, therefore used the forum to educate the ATTAN members on abiding to traffic laws, adequate training of their drivers, putting their trucks in good shapes and fixing of brake lights, rear lights , trafficators etc on their various trucks.
Also, he implored them never to hesitate to call for assistance for vehicle towing whenever they experience breakdown rather than waiting till when found wanting/guilty of road obstruction.
However, he told the ATTAN members that he hoped the meeting will yield positively to accident free campaign being clamouring for and create better understanding between the two to find lasting solution to most of the problems encountering as traffic agents and road users.
Alhaji Yekini Usman, a member of the board of trustees of the association, thanked the TRACE team for honour accord to them as an association and informed the forum that the association now exists in 9 states in Nigeria and still growing.
He assured the TRACE team of total commitment to zero tolerance to road crashes as been led by TRACE commander and Chief Executive Officer Com. 'Seni Ogunyemi. Adding that drivers have contributed immensely to untimely death of some members due to their reckless driving and other related traffic offences. In conclusion they agreed to collaborate with TRACE team for continuos training/retraining and educating of drivers on related traffic offences which include;route violation, wrong overtaking, excessive speeding, overloading, road obstruction, mechanical deficiency among others
