Alhaji Lawal Adewale Wasiu FCA, the Executive Chairman of Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government, is dedicated to achieving his set goals and delivering dividend of democracy to the people. During his 18-month tenure as Transition Chairman, he oversaw significant infrastructural development, including grading of selected roads in all 16 wards, renovation and construction of new health centers, renovation of school buildings and construction of additional classrooms, and effective management of Covid-19 palliatives.
Alhaji Wasiu's leadership values and ability to communicate directly with citizens through community leaders, religious leaders and stakeholders have been invaluable in ensuring the local government is run efficiently. He has genuine plans to reshape and rebrand the local government, providing easy channels for constituents to reach officials and actively listening to concerns and feedback. To achieve his vision, Alhaji Wasiu involves stakeholders, community leaders/members, and government officials in decision-making processes.
Since assuming office less than three months, Alhaji Wasiu has prioritized environmental sanitation, cleaned up refuse in various locations, setting the IGR right and initiated a facelift of the local government premises. He also plans to commence grading of roads before the rain start by putting the grader in right order, empower government workers and foster collaborative partnerships between stakeholders and government entities. His efforts have not gone unnoticed, with the Nigerian Building and Road Research Institute (NBRRI) officials commending him for his support in the execution of the stone-based floor project.
The Citizens Engagement Platform also presented a charter of demands, which Alhaji Wasiu promised to address. This charter encompasses demands across critical areas such as education, disability issues, health, road infrastructure, youth empowerment, agriculture, women empowerment, accountability, and governance.
Alhaji Wasiu's leadership philosophy is centered around direct communication with citizens, transparency, and collaboration. He is a man of ethical values, performing excellently and being accountable to constituents. His commitment to transparency and accountability has earned him recognition from various groups, including the Muslim community and retired primary school teachers.
