By Olatunji Peter

In a bid to ensure that markets within Ado Odo Ota area are well secured and maintained to standard, the Council Chairman  Hon. Lawal Adewale Wasiu FCA has embarked on a markets inspection tour in the Ota axis, where he  ordered  immediate removal of illegal structures that have defaced  market plans.

During the inspection at Plaza Market along Ijoko Road, Hon. Wasiu tackled the issue of encroachment on market space, where a barricade was illegally erected, depriving market users of trading space. He assured concerned individuals that the Council would take necessary action to recover the space for effective market use. This move aims to ensure that markets within the council are well secured and maintained to standard.

The chairman also visited Sango Market, where he expressed disappointment with the situation, particularly with the motor garage that had been converted into a parking lot for various vehicles. This conversion has disrupted market activities and garage  purpose. He ordered the removal of illegal kiosks from the parking space and instructed the Iyaloja of the market, Alhaji Taibat Aderonke Bello, to ensure that shop owners remove extensions hindering garage activities.

Also visited was the  Ketere Market, where Hon Lawal Adewale promised to create an enabling environment for the local government school within the market. He instructed the Council Engineer, Mr Dapo Oladeinde  to take measurements of Sango motor garage for effective planning before enforcing parking of vehicles.

The tour took the Chairman to  Osi area of the local government,  where he emphasized on the importance of cleanliness and adherence to environmental laws, noting that a place where consumables like cow meat are sold must be clean and well maintained.

Hon.Wasiu's efforts to revamp the markets and ensure cleanliness and orderliness are in line with his administration's focus on environmental sanitation and infrastructure development.
