Popular Socialite Cash Madam Dies At 89,Ogun State Govt Mourns Her Demise |Omohglobalnews



A popular Nigerian socialite, Princess Kadijat Abike Adebisi Edionseri, popularly known as Cash Madam, has passed on at 89.

Cash Madam, who was the Iya Sunnah of Egbaland, Yewaland, and Ogun State died after a brief illness on Sunday, January 5, 2025, in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.

Her passing away was announced in a statement on behalf of the family by one of her children, Dr Adebayo Adebowale.

The statement noted that the renowned businesswoman touched many lives in her family and community, as she was a “shining example of grace, dignity and unwavering faith.”

“With deep gratitude to Allah for a life well-lived, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Princess Kadijat Abike Adebisi Edionseri (née Elegbede), who returned to her creator on January 5, 2025, at the age of 89, following a brief illness.

“Her life was a shining example of grace, dignity and unwavering faith. Princess Edionseri touched the lives of many through her wisdom, kindness and dedication to both her family and her community. She taught us the importance of love, resilience, and faith in Allah, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to inspire generations.

“As we grieve this monumental loss, we also celebrate the remarkable life she lived. Her laughter, warmth, and the values she instilled will forever remain in our hearts, guiding us as we navigate life without her physical presence,” the statement partly read.

The stated added that that she will be buried on Monday (today) at 4pm at her home in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.

The late Edionseri, fondly called “Cash Madam,” was widely admired for her philanthropy, business acumen, and steadfast commitment to the socio-economic development of Egbaland and Ogun State.

To say how popular she was, Chief Ebenezer Obey, in one of his albums ‘Board Members’ sang her praises to the high heavens as the album sold multiple records. The part Obey dedicated to Princess Adebisi got her sobriquet of ‘Cash Madam’ which she is being referred to today by all sundry.

She was majorly into sales of fabric and her shops littered across the country are currently being managed by her children.

It was disclosed that her fabric business was thriving excellently and that she always had cash that banks would send their cashier to come and pick at her store.

Meanwhile, Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of renowned business mogul and socialite, Chief (Mrs) Adebisi Edionseri, popularly known as ‘Cash Madam.’

Abiodun described the deceased as a trailblazing entrepreneur whose remarkable legacy has left an indelible mark on society, inspiring generations since the 1970s.

In a statement issued on Monday by his Special Adviser on Media and Strategy, Kayode Akinmade, Abiodun lauded Edionseri’s immense contributions to Ogun State, calling her a beacon of resilience, ambition, and success.

“On behalf of myself and the people of Ogun State, I extend our deepest condolences to the family of Alhaja (Chief) Adebisi Edionseri. Her passing is a tremendous loss, but her influence as a business pioneer and social figure will continue to resonate for years to come,” Abiodun stated.

He praised Edionseri’s pioneering spirit, noting her exceptional achievements at a young age and the inspiration she provided to aspiring entrepreneurs and social leaders across the region.

“Alhaja Adebisi’s legacy transcends her lifetime. Her contributions to the business landscape and her vibrant social engagements will serve as enduring reference points. She touched countless lives and left an imprint that will guide future generations,” Abiodun added.
