Lions Clubs International District 404B4 Governor, Taiwo Fatoki, has inaugurated the Ota Central Lions Club, furthering the organization’s commitment to grassroots and community development.
The launch, held on Sunday evening in Ota, Ogun State, saw Governor Fatoki emphasize the importance of growth and member retention in alignment with LCI’s Mission 1.5. He encouraged the club to achieve a net membership gain by the end of the year, while urging guests to provide the financial and moral backing needed to realize the club’s community-oriented initiatives.
“I urge you to apply the leadership skills gained through training programs and the Lions Learning Center,” Fatoki said. “To build a strong club that attracts quality members, embrace the Lions Code of Ethics and foster an environment of harmony, unity, and purpose for a successful, inclusive service year.”
Charter President Abayomi Oke-Asiwaju highlighted the club’s focus on impactful health and social initiatives, including sight preservation, diabetic awareness, childhood cancer support, and hunger relief.
“One of our key projects this year is youth empowerment through skills training and provision of start-up kits,” Oke-Asiwaju said. “We are committed to delivering purposeful service to our community and, by extension, Nigeria. We appeal to our guests to support these initiatives financially.”
During the ceremony, the club received its Charter Certificate, and members were inducted with charter kits. The board of directors was also formally installed.
The event, held on December 15 in Ota, was graced by distinguished guests, including the Olota of Ota, the Onijana of Ota, the Chairman of Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government, and other notable personalities.
