ADO ODO OTA LG CITIZENS ENGAGEMENT PLATFORM PRESENTS CHARTER OF DEMANDS TO HON. LAWAL ADEWALE WASIU |Omohglobalnews


Ado Odo Ota Local Government Citizens Engagement Platform has presented  a  Charter of Demands to the Executive Chairman of the Council, Hon. Lawal Adewale Wasiu FCA. The presentation took place at the Council Secretariat  Ota.

While welcoming the platform, the Council Chairman Hon. Lawal Adewale Wasiu,  commended the initiative and pledged the  commitment of his administration to address the outlined priorities. In his words, "This Charter is a clear expression of what our people want, and I assure you that we will work together to make Ado Odo Ota   local government a role model to other ones" . He further announced plans to set up a monitoring and implementation committee to ensure timely response to the demands. He urged the platform to emulate progressive Non Governmental Agencies in bringing developmental projects to the people of the Council area to compliment the efforts of government at the local level. 


Speaking earlier, the Leader of the Citizens Engagement Platform, Prince Femi Fadina, emphasized the significance of the Charter as a tool for accountability. In his words, "This document reflects the voices and aspirations of our people. It is a blueprint for the development we want to see in Ado Odo Ota local government area." He commended the Council Boss for his commitment at engaging with the grassroots for developmental projects and urged him to prioritize the demand outlined.

 The Charter of  Demands presented to the Chairman highlighted the following points;,


1. Infrastructure Urgent rehabilitation of major roads, expansion of public transportation, and provision of clean water.


2. Healthcare Upgrading primary health centers, hiring more medical personnel, and subsidizing healthcare for vulnerable people.


3. Education Renovation of dilapidated school buildings, provision of learning materials, and scholarships for indigent students.



4. Youth Empowerment: Establishment of skill acquisition centers and funding for small and medium enterprises SMEs.


5. Security Deployment of community policing initiatives and equipping security agencies.


The presentation of the Charter marked a turning point in local governance, with many attendees lauding the collaborative approach. Dr.Olushola Afariogun, noted that, it will be  the first time  thier concerns were being documented and presented formally. He added that, the documentation and presentation gives  hope for a better future.

Various stakeholders, emphasized the importance of continuous dialogue between the government and the people to ensure that the promises made are fulfilled. The event pave ways for inclusiveness of the people in governance.



The Head of Local Government Administration of the Council Alhaji Junaid  Babatunde Wasiu FCA, informed the gathering  that, since the inception of the administration of Hon. Lawal Adewale Wasiu , he  has been working on most of the highlighted points in the Charter of Demands that has been submitted by the platform, he however, added that, he is optimistic and believe none of the points will be left untouched by the Council. 



The Head General Services and Administration, Mr Akinde Bisi, on behalf of the Council, appreciated the Citizens Engagement Platform for thier dedication towards the preparation of the Charter of Demands presented to the Council Boss. He equally implored the platform to give the Chairman time to study and merge it with other demands for the betterment of the Council area.


The highlight of the event was the presentation of Ado Odo Ota Local Government Citizens Engagement Charter of Demands to the Chairman of the Council area.

Present at the event  were, the Head of Local Government Administration, Alh. Junaid Wasiu Babatunde FCA, Heads of Departments, members of Ado Odo OTA Citizens Engagement Platform amongst others.
