The Tragic Ordeal of Navy Officer Seaman Haruna Abbas: Unjustly Long Detention in Guard Room |Omohglobalnews

Today, I was deeply troubled by the account of Hussaina Ilyasu, the wife of Navy Officer Seaman Haruna Abbas, on Brekete Family. The incident, involving Seaman Abbas's superior, General MS Adamu, is a shocking tale of abuse of power and religious persecution. According to Hussaina, Seaman Abbas was detained in the guard room for an extended period simply because he went to pray. This unjust punishment led to Seaman Abbas's mental health deterioration, resulting in his current state of madness.

As a Human Rights Activist, I am appalled by this incident and demand justice for Seaman Abbas. The Federal Government and relevant authorities must investigate this matter thoroughly, and if General MS Adamu is found guilty, he must face the full weight of the law.

The right to freedom of religion is enshrined in our constitution, and it is unacceptable that Seaman Abbas was punished for exercising this fundamental right. The prolonged detention in the guard room without due process or justification is a clear violation of his human rights.

I urge the Federal Government and relevant authorities to take immediate action to address this injustice. We must ensure that those responsible are held accountable and that measures are put in place to prevent such incidents in the future.

Seaman Abbas's case is a stark reminder of the need for accountability and transparency within our institutions. It highlights the imperative for those in positions of power to respect the rights and dignity of their subordinates.

I call on all human rights activists, organizations, and concerned citizens to join me in demanding justice for Seaman Abbas. We must collectively push for a thorough investigation and ensure that those responsible are held accountable.
