TRACE Identifies Care-Free Attitude To Vehicle Maintenance As Cause Of Incessant Breakdown On Roads |Omohglobalnews

The Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, TRACE, has identified lack of proper maintanence and care-free attitude on part of drivers as being responsible for incessant vehicle break down which often leads to numerous accident on roads.

The Ota TRACE Divisional Commander, Olaoke Victoria dropped this hint during a routine training of truck drivers at NUSTANZA NIG LTD, Onibuku, by security agencies in Ogun West, saying some reckless drivers often ram into such abandoned vehicles unaware they are stationary.

She said, most of these drivers whose sights might have been blurred by foggy weather, especially during rains or harmattan or by too much of alcohol fail to notice vehicles that are abandoned on the roads on grounds of mechanical fault.

The Divisional Commander was speaking on behalf of the Ogun West TRACE Area Commander, Ajibade Adekunle who had the  mandate of the TRACE Corps Commander/CEO Prince 'Seni Ogunyemi, that company drivers should be properly trained to reduce accident in the state.

According to her, "having realized that records show truck drivers were responsible for most accidents on major roads in the state, the TRACE Corps Commander/CEO mandated the Area Commander to ensure truck drivers of companies within our Command are routinely trained".

While warning that drivers should avoid taking alcohol while driving, she said, there is no reason why a reasonable driver who is not out a psychiatric case or highered killer should drive against the traffic, aka 'One Way'.

She further advised that drivers should not be aggressive when approached by TRACE Operatives, but be civil and cooperate with them because they are out to ensure safety of all road users.

She said drivers should avoid carrying loads other than their company's loads in these days of increasing rate of kidnapping.

Speaking in the same vein, TRACE Officer Temitayo Ojo talked about the implication of dangerous driving, especially to avoid traffic personnel on the road.

She also made a reference to a recent fatal accident that killed many people at iju Bridge, along Idiroko-Ota road when the truck driver involved was trying to manouvre on sighting a traffic personnel.

Other traffic agencies present at the training include DRC Rasaq Tunde Olaleye, Deputy Route Commander NVIS officer, FRSC ota, Engr Olugbega Oluwatoyin.

The host company was represented by Alh, Mustapha Abdul Kadir, CEO, NUSTANZA NIG LTD., Hassan Yusuf Adamu, Logistics Manager, NUSTANZA NIG. Ltd.
