TRACE Declares Zero Tolerance For One Way Driving At Iyana Ilogbo Junction Of Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway |Omohglobalnews




The Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, TRACE, on Monday, declares zero tolerance for driving against the traffic, aka 'One Way' at Iyana Ilogbo portion of Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway. 


This was expressed at a public enlightenment campaign embarked upon by the Ijako Unit of TRACE Agency, under the leadership of Ogun West Command headed by Commander Ajibade Adekunle. 


Leading the campaign at Iyana Ilogbo junction of Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway, the Unit Commander, Aduroja Ariyo said there was no reason for driving against the traffic on the grounds of failed portion as the road has been filled with hardcore gravel and stones, making it motorable for all types of vehicles without any imcumbrance. 


According to Commander Aduroja, TRACE Operatives went extra miles over the weekend and launched into doing palative work, filling the failed portions at Iyana-Ilogbo axis of the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway with hard core gravel and stones. 


"This onerous task of making road safe and passable to motorists would not have been achieved, but for the assistance of Nigerian Founderies Limited Abestor, through its Manager, Dr Cynthia Abima and Tipper Garage Owode-Ijako, through the Chairman, which provided free tippers to transport gravel and stones provided by Nigerian Founderies Limited to Iyana-Ilogbo failed portion. 



"TRACE effort is in compliance with the directive of the TRACE Commander, Prince 'Seni Ogunyemi, that the Agency must solicit assistance of corporate organisations within our axis to use their CSR to assist where necessary". 


Commander Aduroja urged corporate organizations to emulate the kind gesture of the Nigerian Founderies Limited and Tipper Garage Owode-Ijako for the assistance, in TRACE efforts to ensure road condition is safe for all. 


According to him, TRACE recorded series of accidents due to 'one way' driving, wrongful overtaking and excessive speed leading to killing of travellers and passers-by. 


He said it was this unfortunate occurrences that prompted communities in the area to flood the TRACE Agency with SOS petitions, urging it to make driving against the traffic a taboo on the road. 


The Unit Commander also urged the general motoring public to abide by traffic rules and regulations, adding that safe and responsive driving is a task for all and sundry.
