The alleged mastermind behind the killing of passengers on the Abuja-Kaduna train, Ibrahim Abdullahi, also known by the ominous moniker of Mandi has been apprehended by the police.
The Police Public Relations Officer in Kaduna, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi made this known on Thursday.
Recall the attack on the Abuja-Kaduna train in which about 14 persons were killed and 63 officially declared abducted was carried out on March 28, 2022.
The attack, however, forced the Nigeria Railway Corporation, NRC, to temporarily suspend activities while ex-President Muhammadu Buhari directed security agencies to rescue the victims.
The victims were later released in batches 6 months after the incident.
Confirming the arrest of Moniker of Mandi, Adejobi informed the media that the suspect had also participated in the abduction of students from Greenfield University in 2021.
The Police said that 48 AK-47 rifles were seized during Mandi’s arrest and efforts are underway to identify his sponsor and supplier of weapons.
