In the face of Nigeria’s poverty crisis, the Covener/National Coordinator of Betta Edu New Media Centre, Yusuf Raul, says hope is rising for the citizens, as the Honourable Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu, was taking decisive steps to tackle poverty.
In a press statement made available to newsmen on Friday, October 13, Mr Raul said the minister has recognized poverty as a multifaceted issue and was adopting comprehensive programmes and sincere intentions to handle the situation.
Yusuf Raul added that the initiatives by the minister “have garnered widespread acclaim among Nigerians who believe that she has the ability to uplift vulnerable individuals and communities.”
He noted that in the course of addressing the complex nature of poverty, Minister Betta Edu has introduced some initiatives and interventions aimed at providing holistic support to those in need.
He said, “One of the programmes is the Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) initiative, which directly assists the most impoverished households, by providing them with regular financial assistance to meet their basic needs.

“This initiative empowers families to break free from the cycle of poverty and gain economic stability.
“The National Social Investment Programme under the Minister’s leadership, has greatly expanded its reach across Nigeria.
“The N-Power initiative, one of its flagship programmes, offers young graduates the opportunities for skill development and entrepreneurial training, equipping them with the necessary tools to improve their lives.”
Yusuf further stressed that Betta Edu was actively engaging stakeholders, including non-governmental organizations, civil societies, and international partners, in order to foster a collective effort to eradicate poverty.
“Her emphasis on transparency and accountability ensures resources are efficiently utilized, minimizing the risk of corruption or mismanagement.
“Nigerians have shown unwavering support for the Honourable Minister’s initiatives, recognizing her genuine intention to uplift the most vulnerable and admiring her proactive approach to problem-solving”, he added.
He commended the minister for embracing public opinion, especially during town hall meetings, social media interactions, and community engagements and for actively seeking feedback to improve on programme implementation.
