Oremeji Street Wears A New Look As Bamigboye Rehabilitated Road To Create Alternative Exit For Road Users |Omohglobalnews

 _9th September, 2023._

Vehicles driving from Palm Avenue towards Daleko market and Iyana Isolo now have alternative route to avoid the traffic gridlock at the ever busy Avenue/Tetrazzini junction, due to the rehabilitation of Oremeji street linking Oteomi, downward to UBA exit junction to link Isolo road towards Daleko market and Apapa/Oshodi express.

The road rehabilitation which has just been completed by the Hon. Emmanuel Bamigboye led administration in Mushin Local Government, as another form of palliative to road users along the axis, to cushion the effect of hardship being experienced due to the persistent traffic jam at the Palm Avenue junction of Isolo road which always stretches to Chicken George roundabout.

It wasn't an easy task for the Works and Infrastructure department as the drainage channels on both sides of the road posed great challenges and threats to the project. The Environmental Sanitation team of the council worked day and night to open up the blocked drainage system on the road before the commencement of the rehabilitation process.

The trio of Supervisor for works & Infrastructure - Hon. Funmi Peters, Chairman, House Committee on Works & Infrastructure in the legislative Arm - Hon. Hakeem Mustapha and Councillor representing Papa Ajao Ward (B) in the council - Hon. Dele Abioye, consistently monitored and supervised the project to ensure the chairman's intended purpose for the road was achieved. They were always at the site with the environmental sanitation team to open up the channels which was blocked with all forms of domestic waste and sand, to the road level thus preventing free flow of rain water along the stretch.

Residents and petty traders along the street gave kudos to the council authority for their determination and zest to alleviate their challenges in the street. They were also shocked to note that the drainage system being constructed many years ago, was deep enough to accommodate and channel water away into a connecting channel but blocked due to human activities and failure of residents in their responsibility to clear the drainage in front of their houses.

Road users have now been relieved as the rehabilitation of the short portion of road, has solved many problems on the road and created a solution to the traffic challenges being experienced by motorists along the Isolo road end of Palm Avenue in Mushin.
