Onibuku Community, a suburb in Ota, has been thrown into pandemonium following the death of its paramount ruler, Kabiyesi, Oba Abraham Olusegun Bankole, who suddenly died today, July 25, 2023.
Kabiyesi met his sudden death as result of road traffic crash.
He died instantly on Idiroko expressway, very close to Winners Chapel, when a moving truck with registration number EPE 252 XF, belonged to Rocket Jinja Liquor matched on him while trying to disembark from a tricyclist, popularly know as Keke Marwa in which the Kabiyesi was traveling with after hitting it from behind.
Eyewitness account said that Kabiyesi fell down while trying to escape after being gripped by fear as a result of high impact the truck hit the Keke Marwa from behind and in the process matched with same truck.
His remain has been deposited at Ota General Hospital morgue while the truck has been moved out of the road by police for free flow of traffic.
Corps Commander and Chief Executive Officer of Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE), Cdr Olaseni Ogunyemi, while commiserating with the Kabiyesi’s family and entire inhabitants of the community, urged motorists and other road users to always imbibe the culture of defensive driving while behind the wheels.
He condemned careless attitude of some hydraulic vehicles’ drivers on the road. He admonished the motoring public to desist from excessive speed, overloading, one-way drive and driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol while on the road.
