SALLAH CELEBRATION: TRACE Warns Motorists Against Reckless Driving, Overloading|Omohglobalnews

By IGE ADEKUNLE

The Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE) has warned motorists against recklessness, drunk driving and overloading of vehicles to guarantee crash-free Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

While celebrating in advance with Muslim faithful, the agency’s Corps Commander and Chief Executive Officer, Cdr Abdulfatai Olaseni Ogunyemi, said the warning is highly necessary because any life lost to road accident can not be replaced, reiterated the need for motorists to be cautious while behind the wheels during and after the celebration.

Cdr Ogunyemi spoke through the TRACE Area 4 Commander, Cdr Adekunle Ariyo Ajibade. He admonished motorists to always drive cautiously during this rainy season, saying rainy season always caused poor visibility, which often resulted to road crashes.

“We are appealing to motorists to refrain from reckless driving and adhere to average speed limit to avoid unnecessary loss of life during the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

“In addition, motorists should not take the advantage of the Eid-el-Kabir celebration to get drunk to minimise road crashes,” he said.

The TRACE boss admonished the public against blocking the highways while celebrating Eid-el-Kabir, noting that the highways were meant for everyone.

Cdr Ogunyemi has ordered 24 hours special operations across the Commands to curb the excesses of motorists and to ensure free flow of traffic.

He urged members of motoring public to show love to other road users in the spirit of the celebration.

He appealed to motorists to be at utmost patience while using the road to avoid road crashes, obstruction and death during the celebration. “Infact maximum love are expected from road users especially the motoring public in the spirit of celebration to prevent hazards,” Cdr Ogunyemi, added.
