The long journey to the much awaited victory of the APC candidate for Lagos State House of Assembly in Mushin Constituency 02, Hon. Yinka Kazeem was finally pronounced by the electoral umpire in Nigeria.
Having gone through rigorous, lengthy and expensive electioneering campaign under one of the most difficult and unfriendly economic situations in Nigeria, the All progressives Congress candidate and party members in Mushin Local Government went through thin and thick to to sacrifice all it takes to deliver the constituency for the party. In fact it was a battle that almost became a blinking hope for both Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his host of candidates contesting for positions under the umbrella of the APC across the country.
The battle for leadership of Lagos State, which has now become a big tussle, is no doubt the major contest in the 2023 general elections. As major contenders who are gunning to control Lagos, which is the commercial nerve centre of Nigeria, plans are also going underneath to overrun the state with strange and incompetent faces who are up with various claims to the ancestral lineage of the state.
Mushin which has always been known for its stand and undisputed loyalty to the progressives party, remained unshaken and undivided with its votes and assurance that Lagos can never and will never be captured by over ambitious political neophyte.
Under the leadership of Sen. Ganiyu Olanrewaju Solomon, a political mogul and garrison commander, whose battalion can never be intimidated by any megalomaniac goliath, Mushin remained intact to deliver for APC in the just concluded general elections.
With Hon. Emmanuel Bamigboye as the Executive Chairman of Mushin Local Government and Hon. Rasaq Ajala directing the helms of affairs in Odi Olowo/Ojuwoye LCDA, the invasion from any border remained absolutely impossible for intruders.
Hon. Bamigboye, being among the first to break the campaign for the support of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as President, even before his official declaration, has sent signals to all who cares to know, that Mushin is not a negotiating arena for any opposition.
Having invested in social and infrastructural developments, Bamigboye had already paved way for a distinctive victory for APC in the 2023 general elections thus became impossible for dissidents to overrun in the February 25, presidential and National Assembly election.
Noise from within and outside the constituency never bothered the resolute and focussed Bamigboye, as he had already fortified his territory against midnight invasion. He instituted various mechanisms in partnership with the two candidates who flew the party's flag for the state assembly and House of Representatives in the constituency. He everything possible to deliver his constituency 02 for his party with the candidacy of both Hon. Toyin Fayinka ( House of Reps) and Hon. Yinka Kazeem (popularly known as ESHO) who won the election, to represent his people in Lagos State House of Assembly with 31,478 to defeat his closest opponent from Labour party who had 8,977 votes to come second.
Hon. Emmanuel Bamigboye's joy reflected in his jubilation during the declaration by the Collation Officer of INEC - Prof. Bolajoko N. Dickson Ogbechi, who returned Hon. Yinka Kazeem as elected.
Also with him during the declaration in the early hours of Sunday March 19, 2023, the party chairman, Alhaji Babatunde Shitta-Bey, with political office holders, collating officers for the party, party agents, party members and friends of the candidates, all rejoiced to express their feelings on the victory at the polls despite all antics from various quarters to frustrate the election process.
As the victory was going on, the newly elected member of Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Toyin Fayinka, Vice chairman of Mushin Local Goavernment - Hon. Tunbosun Aruwe, leader of legislative chamber of Mushin Local Government - Hon. Olamide Williams and a host of other APC members including Councillors and Supervisors, joined the council chairman to celebrate the joy of victory.
