The Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Prof Isa Pantami, yesterday said the Federal Government blocked over 3.8 million cyber attacks and threats during the Governorship and Houses of Assembly elections across the country.
Pantami said the blockage was facilitated by cyberspace infrastructures put in place by the government to monitor activities in the nation’s cyberspace before, during and after the elections.
Notwithstanding, Nigeria recorded 3.8million failed cyber attempts both within and outside the country at breaching her cyberspace and information communication technology (ICT) infrastructure, the Federal Government said yesterday.
Senior Technical Assistant (Research and Development) to the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Femi Adeluyi, said the attempts included Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS), email and Internet Protocol Spoofing (IPS) attacks, SSH Login Attempts, Brute force Injection attempts, Path Traversal, Detection Evasion, and Forceful Browsing.
But the minister commended President Muhammadu Buhari for the support and approvals of initiatives to promote Digital Economy and cyber security.
