Ota Narcotic Commander Seeks TRACE Support To Back Drug War|Omohglobalnews

The new Ota Area Narcotic Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, Commander, Olasunmbo Akande has charged Ogun State Traffic Law and Enforcement Agency (TRACE),  to champion the campaign against substance abuse and illicit drug trafficking as well identifying the carrier on roads and spheres of influence.

Commander Akande gave the charge while paying courtesy visit to the Area 4 Commander, Adekunle Ajibade in his office, Ota adding that much of narcotic drugs are transported on  roads which can be easily identified through intelligent observations.

He  urged the Trace personnel to see the siting of the NDLEA office in his domain as a call to mobilise his people to reject substance abuse and support ongoing efforts to eliminate access to illicit drugs wreaking havocs in families and communities. 

Commander Akande explained that the initiative of the Federal government on War Against Drug Abuse (WADA), should be championed by every member of the family and community while commending the efforts of the Traffic Law Enforcement Agency in Ota said it is the war that must be won by all.

The Narcotic Commander emphasised that the Federal Government Of Nigeria is intensifying efforts to make  Nigeria a drug-free country.

" We have created a vehicle to facilitate the participation of the citizenry, which is the War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) campaign. It is a social advocacy which we are going to be taking to every community in this country. We started in 2021 and in the past two years, we have succeeded in getting WADA to the doorsteps of our people at the grassroots, which we must not relent at any point in time to embrace", he said.

Akande charged the Trace officers to be partner at intensifying  the campaign this year adding that this will serve as a  platform for social action where all well-meaning Nigerians become stakeholders in the concerted effort to safeguard the safety and sanity of our society against the drug scourge.

Responding, the TRACE Area Commander, Ariyo Adekunle Ajibade commended the concerted efforts of the Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agency at ensuring a drug -free  society promising to go extra miles in fighting against drug abuse aswell identifying the carrier on roads while Controlling traffic.
