Desperate Mother Fights to Save 3-Month-Old Daughter from Forced Circumcision and Ritual Abuse |Omohglobalnews

_Ibadan, Nigeria_ - In a heart-wrenching cry for help, Mrs. Adenike Ige Okin, a mother from Sw8/1055, Liberty Road, Oke Ado in Ibadan, is battling to protect her 3-month-old daughter from the clutches of her husband's family, who are determined to subject the infant to forced circumcision and harmful ritual practices.

With a mix of fear and determination in her eyes, Mrs. Okin revealed that her husband's family has been pressuring her to allow their daughter to undergo the harmful practices, claiming they are "family traditions". But what has left her shocked and devastated is that her husband, Adeyemi Obafemi, is also in support of his family's demands.

"I was surprised and heartbroken when my husband told me he supports his family's decision," Mrs. Okin said, her voice shaking with emotion. "I thought he would stand by me and our daughter, but now I feel like I'm fighting this battle alone."

When contacted, Mr. Obafemi confirmed the development and affirmed his support for the family tradition. "I understand my wife's concerns, but I cannot go against my family's wishes," he said. "This has been a long-time tradition in our family, and I will not be the one to break it. My daughter will undergo the ritual, and that's final."

Mrs. Okin is refusing to back down, knowing the devastating consequences such practices could have on her child's physical and emotional well-being. "I've seen what happens to girls who undergo this ritual," she said. "They suffer from physical and emotional trauma, and some even die from complications. I will not let that happen to my daughter."

Despite the risks, Mrs. Okin is facing opposition from her husband's family, who are determined to carry out the ritual. "They've been threatening me, saying I'll face consequences if I don't comply," Mrs. Okin said. "But I'm willing to face any challenge to protect my daughter."

Mrs. Okin's plight has sparked outrage and concern among human rights activists and medical professionals, who are calling for urgent action to be taken to protect the child. "This is a clear case of child abuse and violation of human rights," said Comrade Donald, a human rights radio anchor in Ibadan. "We will not stand by and watch this happen. We demand that the authorities take immediate action to protect this innocent 3-month-old child."
